Artist's Description
This is a garden where I hung out as a 5 year old kid. This was Hatley Castle and we lived on the estate. This was the italian gardens that my father's office overlooked. My painting is a transparent watercolor on d'Arches paper. The painting appears to be highly detailed but in fact is fairly loose. I am so familiar with this garden I can smell it just looking at the painting.

This is beautiful. Your description says it's fairy loose but it really does look like a lot of detail. It's great! What a terrific place to hang out . I love that you can smell the flowers from memory.

I feel the scent of flowers. The sun. Job well done.

Thanks Joni. This watercolor gave me a bit of a challenge. The big flower planters are white so naturally you try to do them that way. Only one edge of the left planter shows it to be actually white. I think it works.
