Artist's Description
This was originally a spot illustration for Road & Track Magazine in 1971. They no longer feature this kind of automotive art. I executed my sketches using a speedball nib and india ink. Its old school drawing that rarely happens anymore. I started my art career when I was just out of high school doing 6 newspaper illustrations a week for a major daily paper. Great training for an artist working on deadlines. Also, you learn about reproduction techniques. I had to create drawings that could easily be replicated using lead engraved plates.. Therefore crosshatching lines became the style of choice! The Porsche 917 Longtail was a fearsome beast on the racing circuit. These cars were unbeatable and wickedly fast.
