I created an approach to painting fantasy landscapes for my Japanese art collectors 10 years ago. Having travelled extensively throughout Japan and studying the traditional art styles of the 18th and 19th century I discovered elements of landscape painting that made up their cultural sensibilities. I learned about the 9 points of dimension, an unwritten but learned technique of creating dimensional dynamics in their artwork. My fantasy paintings follow that theory and in doing so I inspired many Japanese collectors to acquire those unique original paintings. They are a departure from my usual post impressionist style but for galleries in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima, these images were irresistible. Since introducing this style in 2001, it has been copied widely by other artists, not only in Japan but other Asian countries.
