Artist's Description
This painting by J. Bathieu was restored recently by me. The original oil painting was in very poor condition with significant paint loss. The restoration required at least a 50% repaint. The canvas was dry and the majority of the painting became separated from the substrate. Major portions were carefully reattached and the canvas was reconditioned. The resulting painting is now appears to be fresh and recently painted. J. Bathieu was a popular painter before the turn of the last century for his barnyard depictions of a pastoral life.
